Do I need a permit for Tawang?+
Yes — Indian nationals need an Inner Line Permit (ILP) for Arunachal Pradesh, which we arrange with your ID and photos before the trip. Foreign nationals need a Protected Area Permit (PAP); ask us early as it takes longer.
When is the best time for a Tawang trip?+
March–June for rhododendrons and open passes, October–December for crystal views and early snow. Deep winter (Jan–Feb) is beautiful but Sela Pass can close for days after snowfall.
Is the altitude a problem?+
Tawang town sits at ~10,000 ft and Sela Pass at 13,700 ft. Our itinerary climbs gradually with a night in Dirang, which handles acclimatisation for most people — carry basic altitude medication if you're sensitive.
How are the roads and drive times?+
Expect 6–9 hours of mountain driving on travel days. Roads are mostly good but weather-dependent; that's why we use experienced drivers and SUVs, and keep Day 4 flexible.
